i was at the movies last night and all i could hear was popcorn crunching. that is the loudest food in the world. why is that a movie food? couldn't they come up with something a bit quieter?

It started because it was quick and easy. The crunch wasn't a real concern in the days before Surround Sound. As a former shareholder in a certain theatre chain, I can tell you for a fact that concessions are a main profit center for theatres. Other "quieter" foods doesn't come close to the moolah that popcorn brings in.

mmmmm..pop corn god you just gave me a major craving for some pop corn.Actually a long time ago in the older days pop corn was banned because it was to loud.But popcorns good and people pay for it.Food that more quieter? umm.well gummy candies are nice and silent.Depends on the persons chewing I personally chew normally.But when I'm home alone and nobody around I'm loud:)

cause if you didnt pop it-- people would have a hard time digesting it, and just chewing it would hard too, loud crunching noises at the movies are discouraged

It is more readily available than the roasted chestnuts that they used to sell at the movies.

They want to make you diarrhea, and you miss a part of movie and then wants you to buy another ticket to finish the whole movie.

so you could eat it while you are watching the movie, and to throw it at people who are in the front of your saet that are very annoying. everybody knows that!!
