My Converse are dirty from camping. I want to wash them but not wreck them. Should I wash them in hot water, cold water, what?

Spray them with a color-safe pre-treatment, like Shout. Take the laces out, because they don't get totally clean if they're in the shoes. Then use Cold water on the Gentle cycle with a cold-water detergent, like Woolite. Make sure they're in with other items of similar color, so they're cushioned and don't damage the machine or sneakers. Then hang them up to dry.

cold water on a low gentle setting.Personally I think converse look better dirty and battered. But wash them but hand with a old wash cloth and soapy water then leave them to dry. It's better and if you do it by hand and you don't have to worry about messing them up.

Putting them in the washer may damage them and your washing machine. I'd suggest a garden hose and detergent. Afterwards, buy new insoles!! And spray the shoes with some sort of sanitizer!

warm (NOT hot!!) water, very little soap or none at all. if the water is hot, or if too much soap, you will run the colours out of them. and of course NO bleach. you can let them soak if you want.

Ideally, you should wash them by hand in a sink. that way you can control everything, and rub out the dirty spots yourself.

also, DO NOT throw them in the dryer!!!!!!!!!! dry them off with a towel and let them air dry.

warm or cold, not hot.... and throw in several towels with them, the towels will scrub as they move around... take the laces out and wash them by hand with bleach.... let the shoes air dry if possible... or put them over a floor heat register if you have that.... putting them in the dryer is a pain.... and not good for the insides, the spongy part inside.....

I've washed mine safely, just put them on your normal wash (whatever setting you wash your clothes on). They will survive. I'd take the laces out though and put the shoes and laces in a pillowcase.

My Converse

Because of the fact that most of todays fabrics are treated with products such as 'Stain Guard' so that the colors remain what we call "Colorfast" in the garmet business. Carpets are also stain guarded so that they retain their original look and deep colors, non fading. Larry
