I am originally from India and I am proud of the fact that
1. We had Gandhi who showed the world how to resist oppression without violence......(and influenced Martin Luther King)
2. Our ancient civilization and the concept of 'zero' which we gave the world
3. Yoga
4. Religions like Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism - all of which are VERY tolerant.
5. We had a woman Prime Minister long before England (and US does not even have a Woman prez as yet!)
And other stuff like its spicy curries, Bollywood, it's IT & medical professionals that are shining all over the world!

In this and all matters patriotic, I defer to that modern-day John the Baptist, the late Bill Hicks, who said;
"People from other countries ask me 'Are you proud to be an American?' Well, I didn't have a lot to do with it. My parents f**ed here, and that was about it. I was in the Spirit Realm at the time.... I hate patriotism. It's a round world the last time I checked. In fact, that's how we could stop patriotism- instead of putting stars and stripes on our flags, we should put pictures of our parents f**king. That would stop any boot-stomping mentality, look up and see your dad hunched over your mom's big 4x4 butt...."
Peace.

The fact that even people that hate the USA can have their say in our free and open country. Freedom to say what you think is punishable by death in many countries. Same as freedom to follow whatever religion, or none at all.
