pinochle was a game for four people two vs two, but there are all sorts of variations as well.
2 player, 3, 6 player, double deck, single deck.
its kinda a cross between bridge and spades.
yahoo even has the 4 player version in its games area. if you go to yahoo games and the social rooms you can watch, and yahoo even give the basic rules.

Pinochle is a card game that was very popular many years ago. Like Bridge, that was also popular at the same time, it was a great game that you could play with 2 couples - so it was very popular to go to the house of another couple and play cards to socialize. Both games are played with 2 teams of 2, as I recall.

First poster was correct. Not much to add to it, except it has to do with two of everything down to the nines of a deck of cards. There are no lower cards.
