I love Syd too, he was awesome, and I was really sad to hear that he passed.

SYD BARRETT!!
I am not saying that Waters is not good, but i simply think that the band with Syd Barrett had strange powers and his songs are soo intentionally just to send you in some beautiful world .His texts are very close to the I Ching and some his strange fantasy , try to compare them with Rogers once...
I think that Waters missed Syd that much so his texts came FOR Syd in many casses!!!
Talking about The Wall i think waters is describing his frustrations from his childhood and nothing more of that !
And also Syd don't have a pathetic sense of writing cause he is send from the sky to leave us some information , but obviously many people didn't and can not understand that
BUT WATERS did cause he see Barrett like a God himself not as a usual musician ,and YOU DON'T , but you have a time to change ur oppinion, u know time changes everything
Talking about Gilmour honestly i don't like him at all cause in my head i know (maybe is wrong) that he tryed to replace Syd and never manage to do not even closely ...
P.S: My advice read the I Ching book very carefly and you will see what i am talking about

Roger as the primary writer and David as the primary singer. The sad truth is that nothing Syd, Roger or David ever did as a solo artist came anywhere close to what they did together. It's like Lennon/McCartney. The whole was greater than the sum of it's parts.

Roger. His material is interesting, and is still writing rock songs. Post Waters Floyd is boring, lyrically and musically. As for solo works... have you heard Gilmour's "On an Island"? YYYAAAWWWWNNNNN!!
Now, to be completely bipolar.... no one plays guitar like Gilmour.... he just needs Waters to keep it interesting.

Roger, he has the best works: Dark Side, Wish, Wall. But David isn't too shabby either. Division Bell and Momentary Lapse are great albums.
