She is saying to wait for the ultrasound, to see if she can see or feel a small cyst. If your period comes, the cyst usually naturally disappears while you are bleeding. If they did a blood test for pregnancy, you should be fine with the results. Pregnancy dectection from blood is more accurate than urine. Then of course, it could be something else completely, not related to your reproductive system. Trust your doctor, or get a second medical opinion. Good luck :)

You may have PCOS. I have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and I found out because I was suffering cramp-like pains. I went to the doctor and got an ultrasound.
PCOS affects almost 10% of women, so it's pretty common. It's also the leading cause of infertility.
Symptoms of PCOS include irregular periods, weight gain and obesity, (especially around the lower torso), acne, infertility, skin tags, dark skin patches, sleep apnea, prolonged PMS symptoms (which is something I suffered greatly), and male pattern baldness.
What it is is multiple cysts in the ovaries which can cause chronic pelvic pain, like never ending cramps.
Treatment varies but being put on a birth control pill is common because it adjusts the hormone levels in the body (another sign is high levels of testosterone) and also regulates your periods.

You could very well have a cyst on your ovaries. Best idea is to get the ultrasound done and see what it finds. Some girls are prone to very painful cycles. Sometimes the doctors can't figure it out. It stinks. Is there a family history of cysts? How old are you? Good luck with it. Listen to your doctor and do as she says.

If it calms your nerves to take a pregnancy test, then do so it is $10 for peace of mind. When you are done bleeding though, you will need to have that ultrasound done, it is the only way to confirm a cyst on your ovary. Protect yourself, one week isn't going to kill you, just calm down and wait. Have a piece of choclate cheesecake, It always makes me feel better.
The doc can also do some hormone bloodwork tests: bHCG, LH, FSH, Estadiol, the whole regieme of female hormones.

you must get the ultrasound of pelvis done irrespective of pregnancy test result because you have cramps. not to scare you but if you mean cramp as a dull pain or occasional pain in pelvic reason associated with sense of giddiness then don't wait and get pelvic sonography done.
when you have your periods note that
1.if blood is dark colored AND NOT usual reddish in color
2.if bleeding is less than normal period
3.do you ever feel pain in lower abdomen associated with giddiness?
if above three things are present consult your gynecologist to rule out ECTOPIC PREGNANCY.
In your case i strongly feel that sonography by an expert radiologist will be expansive and time consuming but it will give you immense peace of mind at the same time you will stop living in atmosphere of uncertainty and fear and your quality of life will improve.
PS- if possible pl give feedback. thanks and good luck.

Assuming you have regular cycles, maybe it's stress. Stress affects our bodies in so many ways. Aside from that, you seem really freaked out about this. Calm down, hon. I'm sure everything will be fine.
