Yes global warming is occurring, I think the earth is in cycles and we are on the warm side of this cycle. It is a natural occurrence. It would happen if no one lived on this planet. However I do think that man and his use of fossil fuels has speed ed up the process and may take it deeper into the cycle. Is it a liberal ploy no it should be a major concern of everyone. Denying it will not make it go away and I am not sure anything will make it go away but we do need to work on lessening the use of fossil fuels anyway so why not acknowledge it and work on it.

There are three decades of scientific research by thousands of scientists all over the world, and every other industrialized government besides the US recognizes it as a scientific fact.
So, if it's a liberal ploy, it's based on pretty solid grounds.
There is no reasonable doubt that our collective pollution is creating a greenhouse effect, and that this is combining with the natural heating and cooling cycles of our planet to affect our environment.
There is disagreement on how severe it is, and how quickly it could become a problem. Some estimates place serious damage at around a century down the line, some at one or two decades.
But, if you knew that either your kids or your grandkids would have a serious problem based on what you were doing, does it matter whether it was your kids or your grandkids? Either way, wouldn't you want to at least take reasonable steps to address the problem, especially if those steps are generally helpful to other matters?

Global Warming is a "Theory" based upon the rising temperatures of the planet Earth. This is completely normal. There is no real threat to mankind. One of the greatest flaws in this argument is that Mars also has Icecaps melting.... Did humans cause this too?
The sun is getting Hotter... Fact. Are Humans to blame for this...No.
If ice burgs in the arctic circle and Antarctica melt will it flood NY city?
No. Take an ice cube and put it in a glass of water.... When it melts... the level of water is the same. Every science class in middle school has tried this experiment one time or another. The results are all conclusive. Al Gore IS trying to scare people so He can get elected in 2008 when He plans to run for president again.
Sadly, He will lose because He is a moron like most of the liberal socialists in this country.

Is there anyone here who has a degree in something related to the field?
Even George Bush has admitted that global warming is occuring and that humans are contiributing to it. This is an understatement - there are natural cooling/warming cycles, but we are poised to far surpass anything that has happened in the last 650,000 years (according to ice core samples).
If anyone has any credible sources that disagree with anything in An Inconvenient Truth, I'd love to see them.
BTW - I think it's ironic that the same conservatives who said "there's some chance Saddam has weapons, therefore we must invade," now say "there's some chance this is happenening, therefore we must do nothing."
The only group benefitting from doing nothing is the oil companies.

Yup but I'm old and I'll be leaving soon but if you have children and you want them to have a planet that is habitable I would find out as much as you can. Help turn the trend in the opposite direction. This is something every young person on this planet should be concerned with and it is not the time to talk politics. Question authority and make them keep the air breathable and the water uncontaminated. No water=no people. It is as simple as that.

OK all listen. Global warming might be happening but how can we as humans cause or do anything about it. Mother Earth has been around for how long, humans ,how long. There is no way that we can do the damage to the earth when she does more to herself than we every thought of.
Earth has her own way of fixing herself, over the billions of years she has been around.
We are just a blip in her memory in time.

Wow. Yes, it is. Ploy to get into office? No, most politicians downplay the impact we're having on our planet. It's like your own body, how much crap you think you can pump into it before you start to get some side effects?

The answer is yes and yes. Global warming is a fact. What the experts vehemently disagree on is the cause. Most credible experts believe it is cyclic weather patterns. Even the NWS has said that Al Gore lied in his facts to attempt to prove his point.
