At some point, you have to learn about Windows Explorer.
Go to the PROGRAMS section and go to Accessories. Pick Windows Explorer. Use this to learn about your computer.
On the left side, you will see FOLDERS. On the right side, you will see the files that are IN the picked Folder. From there, you can simply PICK a file on the right side, then use any of the ICONs on the toolbar above to DELETE, or whatever else you want to do.
When you sey GET OLD FILES OFF, do you mean DELETE, or you do mean COPY to some other disk, so you can DELETE it. (that would be a MOVE). You see, in the Windows World, we use common terminology to describe what we want to do. Maybe you should buy a BOOK or something.

Get a thumb drive and copy the ones you want to keep on there. Thumb drives connect to the USB port on your hard drive. You can get them at nearly any electronics store. If you have video, image, or music files or e-mail archives you want to keep, you want to get one with relatively more storage capacity.
These days new machines no longer have floppy or zip drives, so thumb drive are the way to go. The only tricky thing maybe that you need to download and install a driver for your operating system on the old computer, but the thumb drive should have a URL and instructions for doing this.

depends on what exactly you are trying to do. You can delete the files you no longer want as long as they are not a shared file that may alter another running program.
You can run your utlities on your computer and it can clean up old unused files and space.
If you have a cd burner copy or backup your computer first incase you have a mistake. A backup copy of start up is a number one safe thing to do even with brand new computers.

copy them to a disk, a cd, a flash drive.... email them to yourself... you pick.
Now if it is files from an old computer that you can't boot... try putting the hard drive in a new computer as a slave drive and copy directly from there

it incredibly is going to be frustrating. appears like the main direct way is to flow the three.5 floppy direction (-- yeah, the place do you detect them). yet an alternate selection would be to hold the no longer easychronic right into a pc fix shop and see in the event that they'd study it for you. some have cables that are nevertheless properly matched with older machines. stable success!

plug the harddrive into your current computer as a slave. The new drive will then show up in My Computer.
