I cannot open the file like I do with html. and see the result. I have Internet Explorer 5.5. and win98se. Do I need to install an xml editor?

I'm sure Ie 5.5 doesnot supports Xml Files Why Xml editors? you can download Ie 6.0 From microsoft.com Free of cost and best For Windows 98 Second Edition.

I'm not sure about IE 5.5 support of XML. You should probably download and install Firefox (its a good idea in general). Firefox can read XML and if you include an XSL for it you will be able to view it just like HTML, otherwise it will be formated XML that you can expand/hide the tags
