There is a great book that addresses what it means to be a woman. It's considered Sci Fi - "I will Fear no Evil" by Robert Heinlein.

I love that book and feel it rings very true. A woman is all things to a wide variety of people. A dutiful daughter who understands that family harmony is more important often than being right. A good friend who will listen to your trouble and help you find courage to try new things. A mate that can be an excellent partner (and subtlely instructive) by day and a vixen by night. A mother that is loving and forgiving and gentle. And in the end a daughter who can nuture and care for her parents as they leave her with the responsibility of closing their affairs.

A woman must be strong and gentle, caring and cunning, loving and protective, in control while appearing to be submissive. A teacher and a student - and lovely all the while. I am not sure I have answered the question of Feminity - but I have always thought it was more important to act like a gentleman more than a lady.

Peace!

Hmmm......a good one Lola! Me being a guy this is kind of tough but I'll try :)

My definition of Feminity would be that which is receptive and open. It's a certain delicateness and softness--which unfortunately throughout the centuries has been seen as weakness. Mostly females as being seen this way.

Feminity are qualities: it's having the qualities of wonder, receptivity, openness, trust, love, a deep surrender. A letting go in the face of this Mystery.

It's not the opposite of masculinity but a complimentary part of it. Both aspects compliment each other.

Feminine qualities are the doorway to the Divine.

Femininity comprises the physical and mental attributes associated with the female sex and is partly culturally determined. Some of these attributes can be traced to the female reproductive role. Others are rooted in the socialization of a girl's early development and adjusted throughout adulthood by picking up or reacting to societal cues. Feminine characteristics are sometimes expressed through female gender roles, which can vary between societies and eras.
