Yes, Zizou is indeed the greatest footballer on earth. He gav France its first world cup in 1998.In 2000,he won the Euro cup.In 2006,He took France to the finals. He also taught Matarazzi a lesson he ll never forget.Lastly, its only because of him that I luv football so much.
I think he will always be remembered as a football legend like Maradona or Pele.
As for the person who has posted just above me,I would say that Zidane came back frm retirement in 2005 when the French team was performing so badly in WC 2006 qualifiers and took France till WC Finals 2006.
Isn't that a big contribution on his part.

I agree with you, I also believe that Zidane is the greatest football player of this generation. Just how he handles the ball shows how skilled he is. He's so familiar with the techniques, making everything look so easy and simple. The way he plays proves that he is confident.
He will obviously be remembered for contributing so much to football, along with his successful career.

As French in Paris,
(xqz my english)
I'd like to tell you, Zidane is THE player in France as we do not had since Platini, since 1984.
Zidane is the reference in soccer in Europe with Ronaldinho :

He plays football better than no one else, and not like no other else.
He changes the games, the match, like only some players can or could do.
See the link and enjoy
So his act in the final of the World Cup, it is already forgotten.
Materazzi said this week he is sorry for the proportion of this event took.

his greatest contribution?? of course his remarkable and unreplaceable football skills!!!!! seriously no one can match his football skills and he is a legend and he will always be a legend to me!!! pele may be the greatest but in brazil there are a lot more good football players that can replace him..as for zidane, whether in france or any part of the world,no one can replace him!! that is how he will be remembered..for his extraordinary skills that will never be replaced!! VIVE ZIDANE!!!!
p/s:please talk no more about his headbutts..he is a human being that has the feeling of angriness when being insulted..now he wants to rest, just let him have it..he is tired after playing football for 18 years!! so please have some respect towards him and let him lives in peace..

To the 4 billion people who watched the World Cup and did NOT really know anything about it, he will always and forever be remembered for the headbutt that lost his team the game.
Sad but true. I'm sure he was a great player for many years, but none of that matters any more.
He's the soccer version of Bill Buckner.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Buckner
William Joseph "Bill" Buckner (born December 14, 1949 in Vallejo, California) is a former Major League Baseball player who, despite an impressive 20-year career, is mostly remembered for the ground ball that rolled between his legs in Game Six of the 1986 World Series against the New York Mets.

That's an easy one. Besides giving France their first World Cup? Ronaldinho, Messi and the like have all adopted some of his moves, consciously or not conspicuously or not.
Are we still talking about Zizou one month after the World Cup?
Well you see, there's another achievement.
