I'm building the heads on a ford 390 and I can't get a valve spring keeper off. Any suggestions?

go on e-bay or to a auto parts store and buy a valve spring compressor ...they are cheap and make life easier ...mine cost 3.00 dollars off e-bay ...like 14 at aoto zone

If these are the two piece split retainer type, Use a 9\16 socket and rubber mallet on the retainer ring to knock it loose.

you shouldnt be rebuilding a ford, try a holden and you'll have way more luck
