My niece was suffering from polycystic ovaries, preventing her from getting pregnant. The doctor confirmed the diagnosis by use of a fasting blood insulin test. I highly suggest that for you, because if you have high insulin production, it is a precursor for a lot more than just polycystic ovaries.
If the doctor won't order the test, ask the doctor to prescribe it - because you can take the prescription to a blood lab and pay cash - ask for a cash discount - may be $80-100. I suggest you go to a "Quest" lab - or any lab that does this test daily (not just once a month) as it has to be done right. If the result is 10 or higher, that may be indicative of high insulin.
I would not recommend fertility drugs or other expensive procedures until this test is done.
If found to be positive, there is oral medication and diet modifications that work. My niece just advised me she is pregnant for her second child. Her first is 2.5 years old now.

Try using an ovulation predictior. Almost all the pregnancy test companies make them. They vary in price. You usually get 7 in a box and you urinate on it like a pregnancy test and a positive result tells you that you should ovulate in the next 24 to 36 hours. The directions are really good, but it doesn't tell you to not use first morning urine and my doctor said it could cause a false positive so it is best to test around lunch time, but anytime before 7 or 8 pm should be ok.

a) frequent sex missionary position around ovulation time
or if a does not work try
b) your man must abstain from sex (build sperm count) from about two weeks before ovulation and then have good sex on ovulation day.
or if a and b do not work then try
c) visit a doctor (with your man) and start getting chec-ups and tests, after which you will be either redirected to a or b, or d, e and f and g (these progressively cost loads of money and chances of conception are low, but some people think that the chance is very worthwhile)
d) Lots of hormone injections for you to get you to super ovulate. i.e. having many eggs released for possible fertilisation.
e) d plus assisted insemination (doctor puts your man's semen in a syringe and inserts the semen deep into your lower abdomen)
f) d plus IVF (where eggs and sperm are mixed in a dish in the lab, and if and when the baby (or babies) start forming, these are inserted back into your body, hoping that one (or more) will continue to grow).
g) d plus doctor will dig a hole in one of your eggs, and places a sperm inside it, forcing fertilisation, then placing this fertilised egg (baby) inside your body (again hoping that it will take).
apart from a and b, the process can sound very clinical, and often is, nevertheless for many people the ordeal is worthwhile, even if at the end of g, it is still not a success. Note that with c to g, it may take several tries before success.
Making a baby is a miracle, it is so stupid for some people not to appreciate what they have when they get pregnant.
Oh, and talking of miracles, I know people who went from a to g and nothing worked, and when they had given up, and got back to a and b, got pregnant.

Get an ovulation thermometer, and use it every day. There will be an instruction leaflet that comes with it, so you'll know what to look for.
Remember that sperm take 48 hours for your partner to produce, so have sex every two days, not every day, to maximize the number of sperm released.
You can also try using egg white as a lubricant (make sure it's not straight out of the fridge lol). Its protein content makes your acidic vagina more receptive to his alkaline sperm, so they stay alive in you longer, to fertlize that egg.
Try and lie down for 20-30 mins after sex. Don't get up right away, so that the sperm can stay in you, and not drain right out. The position you have sex in has very little to do with conception.
See your doctor if you don't conceive within the next year.

i have been trying to get pregnant myself. However, my periods were very irregular and they stopped. I went to a doctor and he took some blood test and I found that I have pituitary tumor which causes me to have high prolactin levels.
