I have an old 1992 Volvo 940 GLE that gets me to work in Germany. It is making a "whirring" noise. I can't describe it better than that. It is coming from just beneath the Parking Brake area (center console). It is NOT in tune with the ENGINE rpm, but does speed up and slow down with the speed of the CAR. I am thinking drive shaft bearings. Anyone have any experience with this?

nicely with 185K on the engine first you will ought to rebuild it. you may in all probability get some velocity kit from IPD (google) yet you have to be lifelike approximately "quickly". that's in actuality a heavy sluggish brick and you at the instant are not likely to make it quickly with that engine in there until eventually you get somewhat radical (turbocharging, nitrous)---that's mindless. they say that solid suspension is nicely worth 50 HP and that i agree, so i could start up with shocks, brakes and tires. As for engine mods, in case you may beat the smog rules, you may upload a greater proper camshaft, chilly air intake and exhaust headers, yet do no longer assume too lots from all that.

I would agree with wheel bearings, or CV joints or boots. Your mechanic will have to look at it there, you're in Germany, I'm in Las Vegas. It would cost you a fortune for you to send it here for me to fix it.

Good luck.
