Most agencies in the US will have classes you can take, and pay for, that will prep you to work for the agency. The agency will set up jobs for you, and take a percentage of what you make. I imagine that there isn't a set age limit with most agencies, but my friend models and most of the girls in her classes were late teens-early 20's. She gets quite a few job offers, is pretty, 5'9", and about 120 lbs. She started modeling at 16. You don't have to be all that pretty to be a model for some jobs, like a hair show, but I expect that you wil get more job offers if you are beautiful and thin.

YOU CAN EITHER GET A FRIEND TO TAKE SOME PICTURES OF YOU OR GET IT PROFESSIONALLY DONE. THEN SEARCH FOR SOME AGENCIES IN YOUR AREA. SEND YOUR PICS TO SOME AGENCIES. YOU CAN GO TO YAHOO SEARCH TO FIND AGENCIES NEAR YOU. SOMETIMES SCOUTS WILL COME TO YOUR AREA TO FIND TALENT. YOU CAN GO TO THEIR OPEN CASTING CALL. Well, John, you can be any age you like, but You have to have the body and the mind to do this. Modeling is not for everybody. And NOT everybody is cut out to do the long takes and shoots. It costs alot of money to learn how to walk and show yourself. Good Luck

don't get your kids into moddeling. it messes with their looks and what they think about themselves. it really hurts.
