Born in an independent India have we ever cared to eat food made from Pearl Millet and Mustard Leaves (Chapati's made from 'Bajra', 'Saag' from mustard leaves or rather spinach), how many of us have worn a coarse Khadi dress, did we ever care to find out the historical value in Indian Independence Struggle of any of our places known to us in our city? Have we ever tried doing something which would be emotionally reminiscent of the works of Jawahar Lal Nehru, Bhagat Singh or Jaya Prakash Narayan.Of course we all must have eaten a Parle-G, seen The Jungle Book and had surfed Internet!

Come on grow up, Gandhism is not about eating food of Chapathi's, wearing a single peice cloth or fasting.

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, symbolizes the spirit of demanding Free India and for choosing the path of Ahimsa do so. There are many many individuals who have struggled for the Freedom that we enjoy today. Cherish and Learn from the History.

Take up a cause and stand up for it. Everyone cannot be Gandhi, But one can make a difference for someone.

BTW, Gandhi did not Blog for Independence or Google Search for it. You can atleast start by not being cynical. Don't get attached to material symbols, enjoy the spirit, nurture it in you and spread it to all.

No I have not, but I don't see any compelling reason to do so, as the world has changed a lot since his time (though the problems haven't), nor can we say that ALL his solutions would have worked (his views on economics, for one thing) and some of what he did were his opinion. I don't believe it is important to follow what he did, except in the sense that he practised what he preached, which is what I admire most in him, how many other leaders ever managed to walk their talk? And now that we have achieved our freedom, I think we must work even harder to keep it, through the same peaceful methods that achieved it.
