hi guys, I told my girlfriend that I'll love her forever and she told me that she will love me forever too...
We love each other so much and we kinda have plans for getting married and having great kids after 3-5 years or so...
Is this really an engagement? even I haven't got a ring for her yet? (long distance relationship)........ So I'm gonna come home this Christmas and give her a ring....
Could we be called engaged this time or only when I gave her that ring?
We're both 21 at age.......

As long as your hearts are engaged to each other,you can consider yourself engaged to your girlfriend.A ring is just a ring.Love is all in the heart and a ring is negligible.

Engagement is where you give a ring and planning commences to get the wedding organized. It is an official declaration to family & friends and normally a date is set. You are not quite engaged.

Okay, well it's really up to the two of you. You need to TALK TO HER about this. It's good that you have talked about marriage. Some ppl get engaged without a ring. Really, you just need to talk to her.

I would wait till Christmas when you give her the ring. That way it will be official and no one gets confused... like in thinking something that's not true and gets their feelings hurt.
