this question has different levels of answers, some reveal their information for money, power, drama, others do it to fulfill their lack of social influence and feel others want the information. Some for sympathy, some for attention, some to just get noticed. Has been going on for centuries and will probably unfortunately get worse as the years continue.

sure i'm ashamed to declare I surely have aired my grimy laundry in public some cases in my existence, yet in my protection i could say if I had no longer have accomplished so in public... I in all probability would have killed somebody and instructed God they by risk died.

Because our culture seems to demand it, look at the popularity of all these talk shows.
It's really sad. I guess people need to gawk at other's misfortunes in order to feel better about themselves. People should just get out and do more positive things with their life.
