I am remodling my bathroom and i am at the point of changing the faucet and handle on my tub. When I put the new handle on , the handle started leaking.

you didn't get a washer inside tightened down enough. Take it apart and do it again.

Remove the handle you installed. Now you will see the valve stem, around this stem you will see a packing nut, tighten this nut down a little. This will seal the stem of the valve, by squeezing the packing tighter around the valve stem. Replace the handle and you should be no more leak.

You need to replace the washer, a little piece rubber ring.

my guess would be you cranked the handle to hard and unseated the valve now you need to replace the rubber ring around it
