Get to the best school you can afford. I would apply to the University of Georgia, Georgia Tech and Emory. Successful Event Planners work in the big leagues of corporate business. Public Relations and Event Planning is all about who you know and where you went to school. If you attend a school with a strong nationally known School of Business, your chances of attaining a quality internship is excellent. In addition, your chances of being recruited at one of these schools is quite high as well.

Tsk ... you don't need no stinking degree!

You DO need to know a lot of people in the business. I've known producers for half-time shows at the superbowl, wedding planners, movie premier planners -- seen one, you've seen them all -- each one looks the same at it's core. The key is knowing the people who do certain things professionally and having good taste and fun ideas.

Luck!
