I have a long music file I want to edit down, and I used Cool Edit Pro 2.0, but I don't have that anymore. So I want to know about a program I can download off of the internet for free so I can edit a song file.

There is no such thing as a good music editing program for free. Cool Edit Pro, is an excellent editing program very easy to use, but makes music sound great.

You wont really get a good one for free but there are some cheap versions of Cubase available that do a good job.
