I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find a back to school prayer to give to my kids for the first day of school. Thanks!

Mandy's prayer is great...short, to the point, & simple enough for children to grasp...

You might also try the Lord's prayer...

However, are you in a public school or in a Christian school...
Prayer is banned in public schools (though you might pray silently on your way to school for a good day for you & your students for that day & for individual students if you so desire...as a matter of fact you can pray silently anywhere, at any time for anything you need...such as 'Help' if you need help)...

As far as I know, 'they' can't ban private prayers in your thoughts...Try it, it works...All the best for a succesful school year...

One of my favorites sites is Novenas.com. There are all types and lengths of prayers there. You might also try searching by "back to school prayer" Good Luck. It's nice to see that parent's still instill the importance of prayer. The person who said that religion put schools in a mess is wrong. If everyone followed the 10 commandments, the world would be a better place.

Or you and your children can make up a prayer of your own. Think of things that they are nervous about...making friends, making good decisions, grades, etc and ask God to help them with those issues.

I agree with the first person who answered. Although you should pray that you you have a great school year, I would be careful not to mix education and religion together. This way, it is easier for healthy, personality based relationships to grow. I have lost many friends over the years because we would start talking about religion at school, disagree with something, and not talk to each other the rest of the year.

Just keep it simple like: Dear Lord, thank you for all the things you have provided for us, and may you help guide us through the school year. Amen.

As an atheist, I don't go much for prayers, and certainly don't want anyone in school forcing my kid to pray, but I just wanted to add that I'm sorry you caught any flack for this question.

By all means you have every right to pray with your kids. Let's not forget that the separation of church and state is designed in part to protect religion and keep the government from interfering with your freedom to raise your kids as you see fit.

Ok - half of the people answering this post need to keep their opinions to themselves. If you want to pray with your children, you certainly don't need the permission of closed-minded people on the internet...I think it is wonderful!

Dear Lord, I thank You for this blessed First Day Back to School. Please grant us no sick days, no snow days, and an abundance of after school activities.

In Jesus's name,
Amen.

Religion is the reason the education system is in such bad shape. Especially christianity and Islam. homeschool will keep them under your control, i mean ignorant.

Grant me the wisdom to answer the questions I can, to research those I don't know and the wisdom to know the difference.

Try googling it. I guess some here don't realize that there are religious schools, too.
