ok so my dad wanted to know where the phone was and he looks for it and he found it and walked in al serious and said
'it was on the bench, dead as a doornail'

No, I don't think that's funny, and you're not crazy which is partly the point. Having had my daughter do the same thing, it's a real pisser to finally find the phone that I paid $100 for useless, which means the AT&T service I pay another $45 a month for is a waste untill the thing recharges. Of couse I'd have said it was dead as a beaver hat, but that's beside the point.

You want to know something that is truely funny? Some people, ie, I Love Daniel, are commenting on her spelling when she clearly SPELLED the word I just put in caps, wrong... And by the way, was it the look on yoru dads face when he came in that added to the humor? As I know sometimes the "look" of confusion can add some serious funnies to the silliest situation...

My Dad used to say "Dead as a doornail". It's an old saying.
It would have been REALLY funny if it had been the TV REMOTE he was holding!!!!

I think it is funny. My mother used to always say "the phone has been ringing off the hook today." I always laughed and wanted to point out that it couldn't have been. lol
