Don't want to use bed frame. When I look on the net I find everything except the plans to build it.

Well the easiest way is to measure your mattress and make the plattform 1/4 wider than the mattress. Make it as tall as you want and brace it every 8 inches. Material wise I would use 2x4 and 1/2 inch sheets of plywood. That wold make you a basic plattform. Nothing fancy.

Rather then building it yourself, you may want to consider going to a used furniture store. Beds and bed frames are sold quite often and may even be cheaper then the price of the material. If not, at least you would have an idea of size and proper construction. A platform bed is usually associated with a water bed so that might be the best place to start.

If you have a box spring under your mattress you can use really any type of object that is sturdy enough to safely support the weight of the bed and yourself. Cement or wood blocks are most likely the easiest to use. There are bed frame risers sold at some department stores which may work also as well. Use you imagination as long as its safe and works, then the sky’s the limit.

We made one using 2 by 6 and 2 by 8 one time. We made the part the mattress went in, by the measurements of the mattress. Then we made the platform for that to sit on.

I planned of doing that a while back, when i calculated the materials i will use, it summed up to about 60% of the cost of a brand new nice finish bed frame from IKEA. fortunately when I went to buy, it was half off, I ended up having the frame i like for the price less than it will cost for me to build one. Check it out. good luck!
