I've searched for quite some time now about this subject. Dec. 21, 2012 is the end of the Mayan/Aztec calendar. It is said that either it is the END. Like the end of everything or the it is rather an enlightment. Which could be us on earth being enlightened or enlightened by something coming to earth. It is also considered time wave 0 by Terence McKenna. He founded the therory of Novelty. What I need some other point of view. So what do you think? Do you think that were all just going to die? Do you think that aliens are going to come to earth? Do you think that the world will find peace? Do you think that nothing is going to happen?

Well, it's not the end of the Mayan Long Count calendar. It's the beginning of the 13th Baktun (like ours going from 1999 to 2000 but a Baktun is 396 years long). Time doesn't end. Calendars don't end. When your 2005 wall calendar went to December, did you think time was ending or that it was time to get a new one?
Also on 12-21-2012, which is the Winter Solstice, at dawn there is a once in 26,000 year astronomical alignment between the Sun and the Milky Way which to the Maya signified the rebirth of the Sun and the beginning of a new world age. Notice that I said nothing about anything ending on 12-21-2012. That's because it's a new beginning. Metaphysically, energetically, this world is already dead and has been for 10-20 years.

The Maya calendar is actually a system of distinct calendars and almanacs used by the Maya civilization of pre-Columbian Mesoamerica.

These calendars could be synchronised and interlocked in complex ways, their combinations giving rise to further, more extensive cycles.

The essentials of the Maya calendric system are based upon a system which had been in common use throughout the region, dating back to at least the 6th century BCE. It shares many aspects with calendars employed by other earlier Mesoamerican civilizations, such as the Zapotec and Olmec, and contemporary or later ones such as the Mixtec and Aztec calendars. Although the Mesoamerican calendar did not originate with the Maya, their subsequent extensions and refinements to it were the most sophisticated. Along with those of the Aztecs, the Maya calendars are the best-documented and most completely understood.

By the Maya mythological tradition, as documented in Colonial Yucatec accounts and reconstructed from Late Classic and Postclassic inscriptions, the deity Itzamna is frequently credited with bringing the knowledge of the calendar system to the ancestral Maya, along with writing in general and other foundational aspects of Maya culture[1].

Check the wikipedia and associated links for more info on the Mayan calenders. It'll probably give you many insights.

I heard there is confusion over the time period that it is more like in the spring (April) or the fall (September) because we are such lousy interpreters.

The 'end' doesn't necessarily mean all mankind dies, but perhaps a majority do, and what or who is left have to die from the way they once thought. Thier views and beliefs and way of life dies.

I'm sort of looking forward to it, just to see how people survive without computers, fast food, and having to live a hard life for once.

I am leaning towards nothing is going to happen. I intend to live the day as I can. That is quite a few years away yet. At my age, I may not be here to see it. My time already grows short.

If anything happens on this date it will be an enlightenment. Don't you feel more and more people across the globe waking up? I do. I am working daily toward increasing my awareness and think that if this is an important date it is exciting.

The volcanoes will open up and spew out hot molten magma causing the earth's inner core to create a vacuum within itself. Either that or Ted Danson will host Family Feud
