Have you ever held a baby (under the age of two months) who suddenly stares over your shoulder at absolutely nothing as if they've seen something amazing? And when you try to figure out what caught their eye all you can see is a blank wall?!
Do you think they can see supernatural things at the beginning?

to bloody adalwolf - in France the bakers wife or partner is often referred to as ''La Boulangere", so even though i don't make the bread (and neither does he for that matter - we have a baker now ) the villagers still refer to me as that. Quirky huh!

YES, I total believe that. My son when he was 3 weeks old was smiling at one corner of my house. He would do it all the time. Everyone told me that it was gas don't get excited. Well, then one day he didn't smile at that corner. I noticed it be I really didn't think nothing of it. Later that day he got really sick. I rushed him to the emergency room with a 101 fever. He had anmonia. They did one treatment and after that he was fine. They said that I must have noticed the very first signs. While in the hospital the nurses would play with him and noticed that he was smiling at them. Like looking in thier eyes and smiling and then he would look over their shoulder and smile. Nothing would be there but they were amazed that he responded to them so well so young. Anyways, now my son is 15 months and talks to his " friends" . He laughs and plays with them. I don't fear that at all. I think that it is wonderful that our childern are born total open. Society is what closes them. Most parents fear that they childern are talking to "ghost" be/c society has said that it was bad for so long. We need to support our childern when it comes to this. My mother did and so will I. I have helped people with my gifts and someday my son will to. Helping people brings joy to my heart and I can't wait til my son can experenice that to. I think that "supernatural" things happen from birth and if not nurtured will go away once fear sets in.

Sorry, but I have to agree with Sam. Babies are near sighted at birth. That is one of the reasons that I think that those stupid child development tapes are so funny. The kids can't make out the figures, only the colors and the blurs and even at a distance not even that. Tell this to the parents and they will move the kids to right in front of the TV. Then point out that they are now increasing their child's exposure to radiation exponentially. The poor kid is like a ping-pong ball and would do better with just a rattler.

i think they do because mine would look over my shoulder and smile i reckon they see God or Jesus still, i think They are there at the beginning of life and maybe see the baby every once in a while. I read a story once about a family who came under attack in their own home and their 2 year old hid quietly through the carnage that took place that night and was found by the authorities in the aftermath and was asked how she knew to hide and keep quiet on her own, she replied "i wasn't on my own silly, Jesus sat with me", some say it's fiction but I believe it's possible.

Yes I do believe this. A newborns eyes have to adjust to see the human way, through it's body, which is completely different from how we see things in the beginning (which is closer to how we see before and after this existence). I think they also see colors that we cannot even describe. Children also remember things from previous lives, but forget those things as they grow older in the human body and frame of mind.

I would say they are just looking at something other then your face. I don't mean that bad but they never see anything but Mom's face. I am sure it is relaxing to look away at times even as a blank wall. Do you not think that the first time a person sees something new even if it is a yellow wall or what ever color would be intresting? Remember they have never seen anything before and it is all new to them.

I believe they can. Not just the 2 month old staring off into space. How about the less than one year old riding in the back of the car where no one else is, because parents are in the front seat, and all of the sudden they just laugh out loud.

my cousin, who is a nursery school teacher/owner and has had 3 of her own kids, firmly believe babies have one or more senses which are interesting. One of them is that babies have the sense to know when one is pregnant. She claims, girl babies will come to you readily when you are pregnant with a boy child. and the opposite applies if its a girl. one day, she was standing in a shopping queue whilst she was pregnant with her only son, her youngest boy. she says a baby girl who was with her mum in front of her inthe queue, turned to her mother after she looked at my cousin, and she burst out in tears. My cousin's son was born with an inexplicable deformity of the bones. He's not mentally retarded, he's got an above av IQ. anyway, i dunno how true her theory is, we're Christians anyway and certainly are not superstitious...but oh well, the Bible says supernatural things can and do happen. I have a gift of premonition so i don't brush things off as nonsense too easily.

Yes they can. I have a lot of friends who can remember what they saw as a child, from the sky outside to other things.

Children can see auras too. They are told by others they are not and gradually quit developign the rods/cones needed to see them.

OH YES they can! They still have sight beyond the veil.
They have protection from the spirit world and see that world just like elders do before dying.
Ever wonder WHY babies do not talk? And why many people don't believe when an elderly person starts to see people that have passed on? We say they are 'loosing it' but they do SEE!
Both Babies and Elders. We all have this gift but it is suppressed!

A baby's eyesight takes time to develope.
At two months they are only getting to grips with strong contrasting shades.
So what looks like boring to you is the most interesting thins in the world to baby.

What you are talking about is called obligatory looking. Baby's gaze gets stuck when the visual cortex begins to exert control over her brain stem visual centre. This basically inhibits her eye movement forcing her to stare at the wall.
