I am speaking of a person who makes your troubles seem less important and that once you leave them want to do the best you can with the remainder of your day or life. And are you one of those people who generate such levity? If you are, do you feel "thin" from time to time?

Not in Love... there are just people out there that are like this and if you are like this, people try to cling themselves to you or out of the blue want to hang out with you or just feel the need to be around you.

I know exactly what you are talking about. Not a soul mate or loved one. See all of my life I have had people cling to me, from babies, to adults, male, female, even animals lol. I did and always have enjoyed helping others. I do help anyone who needs my help and always have. I seem to have a way of boosting peoples spirits up. I don't know why, it has just always been like that all of my life. I'm 32 at this point. The only times I feel uncomfortable is when I find out I have a stalker, which I have had from time to time through out my life here and there. Clingy I do not mind at all but stalking is another story. That would be the only times I have any ill feelings!

Father Antanas Saulaitis, SJ. He makes me feel like it's all right if I'm a sinner or anything, and he inspires me to just be good to others, and not THINK if I'm good or bad.
He used to tell this tale about how when a good person comes to see you, after they leave, you can find a little white feather behind their chair, as it falls out of their angel's wings :) believe it or not, I once actually found a little white feather under HIS chair :)
Anyway, Lemont, Chicago, is the lucky place now. I really envy you his presence.

Yes, I know a few people like this. Many of them have come this way after reading a particular book (Celestine Prophecy.) They are wonderful to be around and yes from time to time, there are bad days and you do feel "thin", but you can always understand that things could always be worse.

I believe that you may be referring to a soul-mate. These are rare friends that have that ability to connect with you on a higher level than other friends and acquaintances. I'm lucky to have one and I believe I am that same soul-mate type of friend to at least two others.
I do feel drained and empty after spending time with those friends, but there .is also a joy in the after-glow of being there when it mattered
Maybe that is why so many people want to find their soul-mates.

It's a good feeling to have a real friend that wants/asks fo nothing but is willing to help at the drop of a hat. It's called a comfort zone and friends like that are hard to come by !!!

Yes. I see them as soulmates. I think a person can have many in life, and it doesn't just apply to a romantic relationship. I think someone who brings out the best in you is a soulmate. Someone who's aura and energy is undeniable to you. I am lucky enough to have a few people like that in my life.

My mom is such a person. She upbeat and wise and fun to be around. I thank God every day for her. She always has a house full of guests over the holidays and everyone feels so welcome and cozy around her. I call her everyday and always feel uplifted after our conversations.
