women have rights, there are no 72 virgins in the Quran. its is all the interpretation of certain groups. Much like the differences in christian interpretation between groups like Amish , Mormon, Catholics, Baptists .....

spreading islam through force? HMM crusades? christianity.....
The Quran teaches not force your religion on anyone as that would lead to a believer who isnt genuine in their practice. I only speak for true muslims not those who act on behalf of islam for the purpose of their own agenda

Nearly every surah except 9 (i think) begins with talking about the mercy and graciousness of allah. But in most surahs, there is talk of killing and murdering in the name of allah. Not only does this expose the Quran as a contradictory book, it also exposes allah as a double standard "god". Mohammad, the man who took down the Quran, manipulated the book by adding surahs whenever he needed to do something considered bad, and thus justified his wrongdoing. What kind of religion would promote the killing of innocents? I suppose that begs the question: If not Catholic Crusades, then what. Each person should carefully consider whether the Bible (the insipred word of God) promotes such heinous action. I urge every Muslim not to listen to me, but to research this themselves.

Absolutely not. There is and has been a great misunderstanding about Islam,Muslims and Qur'an amongst non- Muslims and now Muslims too.I am not advocating the point because I am a Muslim but because of reason and logic.I would recommend to all those who hold any doubt about my point of view to read two books written by Keren Armstrong, an ex-nun for about 12 years. She is secular through and through. She is author of many books but I have read only two. Please read them.1).History of God, 2).Muhammad.You find the real truth.

Nice link, too bad it does not go into the term "Jihad" ! This always used for the radical Islam as an excuse to destroy non Muslim believers. If Islam is a faith of peace, why does it allow the open slaughter of other Muslims and non Muslims? This is curious to me for a peace loving faith. Why not eliminate the radical branch of Islam for the sake of Islam?

the old testament apparently advocates telling your son your gonna kill him for god, and then telling him you're just joking.
It also advocates the slaughter of innocents for taking over the land. (Oh, so that's why Israel...)
There are violent means for dealing with diversity advocated in verses in the books of all three of the Allah/Yaweh/God worshippers.
Mohammed was writing for a very specific group of people in one time and place who were dealing with particular problems. Mohammed was a statesmen more than a religious leader, but the masses always go for the 'mystical' over the practical. Mohammed was a man who was trying to keep his little band of people safe from the idol worshippers in Mecca. As part of building up the safety of his people, Mohammed helped forge alliances with Jews, Christians, and others in the region. Mohammed took many of his stories from the Jews and Christians he met.
It's probably utterly irrelevant what he had to say about how people should act because, again, much of what he had to say was directed to his people and what they were coping with at the time. It's been a huge mistake to extrapolate from any of those old texts rules for living for today.
as to all terrorists... ignorant Andy thinks tim McVeigh was a muslim! and the IRA are muslims.... and those whacked out evil christian terrorists in africa are, you guess it, muslims. The state of Israel raining down bombs on innocents - the very definition of terror - why, they're muslims, too. And bush, the torturer and bomber of innocents in baghdad is also apparently a muslim.
Andy, your ignorance and hate embarass us all - but mostly you.

because the only way to spread islam is through force -- no one wants to convert to a religion where there is no economy, women have no rights, and all there is to look foward to is 72 virgins
