Well, I can tell You that being referred to as a Gal, Makes me think of Milk-the Abreviation-( Gal) of milk. And Chicks,NO Thanks. Can't figure out if they are talking about Poultry!! While I am not really offended by them, I'd much prefer to be Referred to as a Lady or Woman. Nice question,BTW.

My 11 year old daughter says "Yes girls do hate being called gals or chicks because they are referring to us as young ladies but refferring to us a someone they can boss around and call whatever they want."

I have been told by the language police that "guys" refers to a group of friends/people of either sex. Gals or chicks were not acceptable.

that's merely the way men communicate, isn't it really? some weeks in the past, i replaced into chatting with chum of a guy who, about 2 years in the past were style of a "chum with advantages", and at the same time as i replaced into strolling away, i heard his mate say "who replaced into that?" to which he spoke back " Kev had slightly a ingredient with it a at the same time as back" before everything, i did kinda imagine "captivating" besides the undeniable fact that it did not really problem me. Boys being boys and all that!!

My favourite is wench, My friends brother used to call us wenches and I thought it was cute. I think that your very touchy and hypersensitive if you can't distinguish from an affectionate term and an insult. You have to be american, american women have taken political correctness to the extreme.
Ps I find 'Ladies' quite offensive has it reminds me of a public convenience

chicks, babes, gals, hotties, etc. are generally meant as a term of endearment and not as a derogatory statement.

as long as it is not 'broad' or 'old lady' (as in wife or girlfriend) i am not offended--chicks and gals, no biggie.
