depending on how much paint is on your car, if light you can have it buffed off, if heavier and your vehicle is newer a body shop can quickly remove it using reducer (thinner) that wont harm the finish

If it was caused by negligence, then the party that caused the damage "should" be resposible.

If it was an unforeseen accident, then you're screwed.

Key point being; Can you PROVE it was damaged do to someone not taking reasonable care to protect your property.

Were there signs in the area informing you off possible overspray, or even that there was painting being done in the area?

You may have a case. But you have to PROVE it in court.

Contact the company that was actualy doing the painting.
Get an estimate of repairs. (free)
Confront the company that was doing the painting with the estimate. Have proof that you were parked in the area.
Ask them how they want to resolve the issue.

Get all the details you can. People, places, times, everything you can possibly can to support your claim if it should go to court.

Here, we get new paint jobs, all paid for by the employer. LAWYERS are GREAT for THIS kind of a case!!! Gather up all he names license info lfor all the owners who suffered damage!

But, being a general mechanic, and having owned jpait and body shops, I will let you know that any of hte 'Bug and Tar' removers might do if it is very light speckles of paint!

Downwind from a Chlorine or Concrete Plant? Those folks got new paint jobs!
