The specific compliment doesn't matter. The thing that was nicest about it was that I overheard it when the person didn't know I was there. That was the only compliment I was ever sure was true.

A female friend of mine told me that... That I'm eating like a true artist (oh... Alas!).
It was in our art lesson at school, and after I got over the shock, she explained that my plate looks like a palette, that I mix the food and its colours like Picaso and that I concentrate so hard to make the whole look pretty that I should get A+ just for eating.

I'm pretty embarrassed to tell that, but I think she meant good.

I raise Arabian horses and I love them and treat them with respect and kindness. One day a famous lady in the Arabian industry came to my farm and stayed about a week, observing my horses and our training facilities, when she was getting ready to leave this living legend, took both my hands in hers and told me ,"When I die ,I hope I come back as one of your horses" I felt this was the highest compliment she could have ever given me,shes passed on now but her words will always be in my heart and share a cherished place in my memory. It may not mean anything to non horse people but it meant the world to me.

Usually that I have beautiful eyes. This lady actually made me uncomfortable the other day at the jewelry counter. She said "I'm sorry that I keep staring at you- its just that you have such beautiful eyes-they sparkle" And she did keep staring at my eyes. I felt uncomfortable but she was a customer what was I going to do?
I also get that I have a beautiful smile. My dentist even told his hygenist- look at her teeth- perfect. He always compliments my smile.

Like Gurrdy up there said: being told by my guy that letting go of me was the biggest mistake he ever made. Lucky for me (and for him) that we made it back together after over a year. He still tells me this now and again.
