That is an easy position to maintain because you will always have people willing to take money for nothing. The Democratic Party is like a crack dealer. They give the kids their first hit for free knowing that they'll be back with the whole neighborhood.
Democrats and their programs are the sole reason that our society has degenerated in to a Society of Irresponsibility.

Each party has to have a platform to run on. The left side of the Democratic party chose that way. I am sure that the center of the Democratic party does not feel that way. Unfortunately, people who do feel the way ( Liberman) are being silenced for taking that stance. When the left democratic party find out once again that the people do not support Socialism once again, maybe they will build a new platform.
