The after-effects of a c-section vary, depending on the woman's age, physical fitness, and overall health. Following this procedure, a woman commonly experiences gas pains, incision pain, and uterine contractions--which are also common in vaginal delivery.
Bleeding time can last 3-6 weeks but it also can be shorter or longer. Personally mine was short, I didn't bleed much (2 weeks).

Women are different no matter how they gave birth, I had a vaginal delivery and only bled 2 wks, but generally women who have csections dont bleed as long b/c the doctor ususally cleans out a lot of the blood and discharge during the surgery.

My mother had a C-Section in April of 2005 (my baby sister!) and she bled for a while though I'm not sure how long. There is still stuff in the uterus that needs to be cleaned out and such so you would bleed.

My mom had all three of us via c-section. I just asked her and she says yes. Because your blood has been stored for 9 months the body has to get rid of it somehow. Hence the 6 week period! Ugh - sorry for the bad news.
