Imperialism is an evil thing no matter who's in the driver's seat. Great Britain - like all Imperial Predecessors - ruled the Third World with an iron fist of oppression. As a matter of fact, it was the British Empire's tyranny that caused the United States to declare their independence.

Why would anyone think that oppression is the answer to world conflict? Ignorance, pure and simple.

Crazy fool. Britain is Scotland, England and Wales while the UK is Britain and Northern Ireland.

And I don't think any good would come from our past aggressive "rule" of the world again.

How could we? We ruled with an iron fist, just look at the massacres of Muslims in the Indian Mutiney.

Our rule was kept mainly due to colonies being bought up to be 'British', ie, they were taught our values, and we treated each colony differently. Australia, Canada and the other 'white' colonies were treated with respect, whereas 'muslim' and 'indian' colonies were kept with the gun.

Britain couldn't take on its old imperial position, and we're a better country because of it. Frankly, i believe any modern British citizen should be ashamed of our Imperial days, and move on from such barbarous times

the UK has it's own problems. every country has it's own issues that maybe can be helped, but not solved. plus people are stubborn. in that if they want something bad enough then they are going to get it. maybe that's what 9/11 was all about.

The UK has not been in that position since WWI, and the world is a lot smaller now.
