I graduated with a BA in Psychology with a minor in American Studies in August of 2004. I am currently considering going back to school for an MSW degree. I am interested in doing nonprofit work. I would ideally like to work for an NGO or nonprofit organization, perhaps doing fundraising or another job?? Does this sound like a good degree for me to get? Thanks in advance.

No, an MSW is not what you are seeking. If you wish to work in an NGO or nonprofit organization, you should pursue an MPA (Master of Public Administration) or an MPP (Master of Public Policy), or an MPM (Master of Public Management).

There are dozens of superb MPA programs; most notably, the Maxwell School at Syracuse University.
Here are the websites of some of the best.

No, an MSW will be great for work in social work. To do fund raising, you might want to consider an MBA in Non Profit organization. I don't know where you live, but such programs are available. Check out

My sister is a college senior and she's going for the MSW afterwards, but that's because she wants to work with families and children - here, the MSW will benefit her. It's a great degree... but for your situation, I'm thinking a more business-oriented degree in non profits will work better.

Probably in a rehabilitation center where understanding the psyche of the subject you could suggest a right job.... :)

Well to me the degree sounds great especially when it is goin to get you to serve people and there by serve God.
