The suggestions about recycling and planting trees and other plants are good ones. Also think about your energy consumption and how you can reduce it - everything from remembering to turn off the lights when you leave the room, to your mode of transportation. Don't drive when you can walk, ride a bike, or take the bus. When you do drive, obviously a vehicle with good gas mileage - or better yet, a hybrid, biofueled, or electric car - is gentler on the earth than a monster SUV. Also think about the chemicals you use and where you can substitute less toxic ones, since everything ultimately ends up in the environment in some form. When you garden, select organic products instead of toxic chemicals, and when you clean your house, try using things like vinegar and baking soda instead of household cleansers. The biggest thing is to stop and think about what you are doing and see if you are making the best choices for the sake of Mother Earth. If everyone does just a little better, the cumulative effect will be noticeable.

Throw money at me (just kidding, I saw that on a T-shirt). Seriously, there are several things you can do. Recycle glass, metal, plastic, and paper goods whenever you can instead of throwing everything away. Plant some trees and create a community garden in your area. Carpool.

If you have access to recycling, taking advantage of reusing paper, tin, glass and other materials can greatly reduce our waste. Reducing driving will decrease emissions into the atmosphere. Changing light bulbs and reducing electricity usage are other actions that will aid our mother earth.
