I think it's because food, tastes better, one sleeps more sounder, one laughs more often, there is someone to share lifes Joys as well as sorrows with. All these things as well as the 4 letter word that encompasses them-LOVE, is why I feel people Marry.

Marriage is the act of two persons in love, vowing to God and to each other that they would be together for the rest of their lives. It is the pledging of devotion to eachother , it is a way of showing that they have found out the perfect mate and it is the act of giving confidence that they would never forsake their loved ones no matter who or what in their lives. Marrige is a sexual contract, where they get the permission to be united in their body and can procreate their extensions in the world to leave their legacy of love, even after their death. Marriage is the only way to physical love and in the present world people have it even if they are not married, So the question would naturally arise as to why getting married. Marriage then would be just another meaningless action.

The truth is people get married for more than one reason. It is the "legal" institution, companionship, intimacy, to raise a family, because they want another parent for their children, because they love the other person. Those are reasons you should use. Then there is a whole list of reasons you shouldn't use such as marrying because everybody else is doing it, or marrying for money, for position in society, for power, etc.

ive been married twice,! an divorced twice,i wouldnt get married again,!!believe it or not most people get married because of pressure from their family and friends,!! you can meet a nice guy or girl and tell everybody you love them,!! as soon as you tell them, everybody says to you great,!! when are you going to get married,?? and then the ball has started to roll, and befor you know it you are married and everybody is happy,!! apart from the couple who got married, cos they didnt want to get married in the first place,!!! they were just happy being together and loving each other,!!

People get married because thats what society says they should do. It is the method society has set aside to consummating love and the union between a man and woman. We are slaves of our manifestations. 50 years ago women believed they had to get married have children and cook for their husbands, cause thats what society and their mothers told them. Today, women in their bid for empowerment are increasingly shunning or postponing marraige because this is the age of individuality. Personally, i'm going to marry the man i will one day fall in love with<3 better to spend forever with a companion that enriches me than be the lonely old extremist feminist, who's rocking in her chair, stroking her cat and saying, "i'm independent, no man to tie me down, i'm free, i've got my cats, they complete me" yeah VERRRRY disturbing visual!

In my opinion people should get married to make their union and their children legal in the eyes of the law. It makes life easier when "stuff" happens.

I used to think it was a "union" between two people in love who are very committed to one another that bonds them together....for life.
