we got into a fight and we both said stupid things to each other and about each other. we never saw each again after school. i found her last night on myspace and i emailed her and said hello. i guess she is still upset about what happened 14 yrs ago because that's all she talked about. i wrote back and said i was sorry that i hurt her and hope she is doing well. no response from her after that. i'm trying out for a roller derby team soon and she happens to be on it, we may be seeing a lot of each other soon. how else can i handle this?

You have to give her some time now to take in your apology. She has been stewing with this hurt for years now and it will take some time to go away. Some people keep nursing old hurts from high school for years and years until it practically destroys them. Still, she is the one who has to deal with this on her own sweet time. Don't force the issue. And at the same time, don't expect the friendship to be the same as it was in high school, before the blowup. She has grown and developed as an adult and so have you.

Sit and talk to her. Discuss the past, and start from there.
You might not be the best of friend again but treat her with respect and easy friendship. Don't worry if she doesn't talk to you often. it'll take time before a new friendship develops. Reach out to her, but if she won't reciprocate, then, there's nothing much you can do.
Just be friendly and treat her as you'll treat other team mates.

Did you say 14 years?

There should be a rather high opportunity that you guys will talk again.

If she just wouldn't bury the hatchet after 14 years...

I suggest you get a new friend.....
