while i don't think the current war on terrorism is a war against muslims, i do think that there is a tendency in American society to simplify things so as to reduce the complexity of the matter.
yes, education, poverty etc are important factors in establishing a viable and self-maintainable society. i hope that America's troops are doing just that.
in order to make the war against terrorism against terrorism and not muslims, i think people in American society should be more open minded about not only cultures of the middle east but all cultures in general. an open mind is the best way to deal with differences, not pointing fingers.

The war against Terrorism is not bull. It is a well proven marketing technique right out of the handbook used in the 50's 60's, as long as it keeps working it will get used over and over. Like this is free on Internet.

In my opinion I believe in the diplomacy more than anything else.Talk is cheap but weapon and power are costly.I will use my diplomat as much as I can in order to solve conflict among Terrorism.By the way, bombing the innocent and fighting the invisible men are unhealthy. The People are hurting and the deficit keep adding, the American citizen like me has to be worried everyday about the future of my children. Now I am preaching Commonsense in America. It is about time that I need to educate people around me and I also need To be educated by you from outside the U.S.I do agree with your idea about the war against Poverty,Illiteracy,Aids,Refugee, and Global warming. You are right about the war against terrorism but not the war against Muslims, because,I met so many Muslims in America and none of them are terrorism. They are well to do citizen and they practice their religion peacefully in my town.Thank you for asking the question and I am so honor to answer this question.

Yes ur right...we need to give education to the people...and thats exactly what the INDIAN ARMY is doing in Kashmir...and have been very successful. They have started schools where local kashmiris are study...but it is disturbing to see that some insane pig attack these schools to frighten the kids and their parents from coming to schools. BUT Hopefully..every attack by these terrorists have been successfully and completely repulsed. Now they are on the run.
The americans have to do the same thing in iraq...if they want to win the war. This war can only be won by a combination of sensitive and appropriate response.

I don't think it is against muslims. I think it is a gimic that the terrorists use to lobby/motivate more people to their side. They want support to justify their cause and action.
I think terrorism will never end, it is just the matter of the scale. We have the anthrax mails and car bomb in oklohoma. Those are not movtivated base on muslim.
I think money and education is a important factor but it is not the only factor. Consider an example of Osama and terrorist groups were not poor and illiterate. They have educated and wealthy people supporting them. It may be more than just poverty and illiteracy.
I think the fundamental cause/issue is our foreign policys.

The "War on Terrorism" is the name given to our governments response to the events on 9/11/01.
To be sure, "terrorism" is a method, a tactic used by the people that perpetrated that act of war.
The people using this tactic are non-governmental agents of nations which are almost exclusively Muslim in religion.
Unlike Western nations, these countries do not have a variety of different religions, at least in any significant members.
Part of this is accounted for by the low level of tolerance for non-Muslim religion.
As suggested by the statements issued by those groups which generally meet the expectations of the term "terrorist", they justify their actions by certain excerpts of the Quran.
Clearly not all Muslim peoples support these individuals. But it is very difficult to separate the terrorist from his religion when he openly uses his religion to justify his actions.
Most of us, I believe, who support the President's response to 9/11 find it difficult to honestly believe that ALL Muslims feel murderous toward us. And I absolutely do not believe that our military targets Muslims who are innocents. Accidents do happen in war but the bottom line is that moreso than any time in history, we are capable of and dedicated to careful targeting of only combatants.
We have no control over how people in these countries are educated. There are religious schools in the Middle East which teach hatred of the West (and America in particular) along with Muslim tenets.
I might also add that part of the so-called War on Terror is the prevention of another 9/11 type of attack.
1) protect us at home
2) fight the terrorist overseas

No. I don't agree. I think the most important thing you can do is not to produce leaders who are war mongers!!.When you have such ill minded, quick tempered [i.e Bush, Blair,Olmert] leaders in power they always make ill fated decisions which destroy the whole world.
[ie.Decisions on WMD in iraq, Supplying dedly weapons to Isreal while in war,].
Arab muslims are rich. They no need money, but they need to study to answer people like you. They use all luxurious items which you produced in your country. Arab muslims should study but not to follow American Democracy. If you can just tell your leaders to solve below mentioned problems then you will never see any muslims involved in any terrorist avtivity.
- Solve Israel, Palestine problem
- Release Gutanamo prisnoers
- Release prisoners (women & men) from Israel jail
- Stop producing deadly weapons & proliferating them
- Take all international forces out of Iraq, Afghanistan etc.
- Stop teaching American made democracy to Middle East Countries.
- Stop the thinking that America is the world police.
- ETC..

Yeah, that will help.....the terrorists that have been captured in many case would benefit from what you say....but there is a fair amount that have higher education....hell, some of the leaders have had some of the best education in the world.....and they are the one that has gotten it started.....if it were against Muslims, it would be so much easier....we could just kill the Muslims.....and then it would be done.....it is not against Muslims, it is the extreme Islamics

You are half right! Terrorism will never end as long as there is hatred brewing in anyone's heart against other peoples. It's not against Muslims even though there are people WHO SAY that they are Muslims, that are using these methods right now mostly against Western democracies and their allies. Does that mean that we are not going to do something about it to limit the destruction of lives and quality of life that has cost us so much to have? Absolutely not!

From where I stand no one is talking about destroying Muslims.
Actually it's Muslims who are doing all the destroying. It's the Muslims who are blowing themselves up, flying in airplanes with explosive toothpaste, sending explosive children into marketplaces to kill as many people as possible, etc.
The rest of the world would gladly help the Muslims to denounce their "kill the infidel " practice but the Muslim leaders don't seem to want that, they seem to enjoy killing people by using their terrorists.
If you think you can get the Iranian Leader and his cohorts in the Middle East to rein in Osama's terrorists and all other terrorists, I'm sure the Western Leaders will gladly help you put your plan into action.
Call them and make the offer.
