Delta, is just a greek letter very used in Math. It's meaning depends on the context.

But a very commom meaning, specially for capital delta ( a triangle) is difference. For instance, a tempertaure deltya usually means the diffrence of the temperatures of 2 objects. In your case, it probably means the difference of the given values

Delta is "change in". For example if you have a value of 6 for some parameter, and measure it under some different condition (say after a amount of time has passed) in obtain 4 then the delta is 2.

Uppercase delta has two different mathematical meanings. Both meanings being with the letter D just like the Greek letter, which should help you remember them. The lowercase delta is seen more often in calculus. Its meaning also starts with the letter D.

(y-y2)/(x-x2). y-y2 can also be written as (delta) y. Same with the x's. So you could rewrite this formula as (delta) y / (delta) x.
