they probably can, anything that is connected to the internet (even cell phones) can get a virus. Mac is better at preventing them because they have previously installed software on them so you do not have to go through the hassell of buying new anti-everything software for microsoft.

No, that is incorrect. While it is true that there currently are very few known viruses for Mac OS/X and the like, it is entirely possible to create one. Many virus writers still prefer to write viruses for Windows as it's userbase is much larger. As Mac becomes more popular, more viruses for the Mac will start appearing.

At this time, there are far fewer Mac viruses than PC ones, but that may change as Macs are moving to Intel chips and are able to run Windows.

They usually don't, however a few viruses have come about recently that do target Mac's. I've never gotten one on my Mac, but be cautious.
