I believe that Microsoft Corporation, Google, and Yahoo, are rich, powerful, and SMART!
They all use Linux and BSD on all their computers, FREE, so why am I running Microsoft windows, with all the DRM, 150,000 Microsoft Virus Definitions, w0rms, the 'Exploit of the Weak', and 5 extra 'anti-whatever' programs? MS is SLOWER!!!
Microsoft.com, Hotmail.com, MSN.com, each run on 15,000 Linux computers, for speed (up to 50X faster, PCGaming Mag, Fall 2004), and for virus free, hackerproof operations. yahoo.com runs on FreeBSD. All are UNICS, UNIX, clones!
Google.com runs on 100,000 Linux clustered computers! Burger King, and the Fortune 1,000 corporations all run Linux! So does our governments! NASA, NSA, NOAA, the Weather Channel! Hollywood! (all movies since "Titanic - 1997" , all animations, all rendering of all stunts, are made in Linux clusters and graphics workstations!!!)
Think about it. What is MAC OS X? It is DarwinBSD, and is FREE if you run any of the OpenDarwinBSDs, or 32 different Linux and BSDs that work great on a MacIntosh!
I run 'curbside donation computers' and set up disabled folks, small schools, with them. Just like Microsoft does now, everyone enjoys a 92% reduction in maintenance, repairs of the files systems, the hardware!
http://pclinuxos.com has 5,000 FREE programs, games, apps.
Boots in CD, loads and runs in RAM disc, no hard drive necessary!
http://ipcop.org keeps out the bad guys, running a firewall and Dan's Guardian web page content filter! Blocks ALL exploits from within, or without! And, it can run Spam-assassin to send all spam straight to the garbage, instead of to your computer inbox! Protects up to 36 clients on any network! Requires a small and old system box, two ethernet port cards.
There are over 800 FREE OSes for YOU!

There are new pcs being offered on the marketplace now which have the BIOs selection to enable the laptop be powered on with the aid of community card pastime.. in different words, if some thing trys to get on your gadget from the web at the same time as the gadget is became off, that is going to turn the gadget on. also, firewalls to good hackers are like tissue paper to a waterfall... in the adventure that they comprehend what they are doing, and are halfway good at it, they could blow proper with the aid of firewalls like there become no longer some thing there in any respect..

No.... No one is, or would be, interested in my emails. However hackers are interested in personal info like SS numbers bank account #s, credit card #s and the like. They are also interested in takeing over your computer to use in sending spam or in a dos attack. If you are on the internet you need 3 things to protect yourself a firewall, an antivirus program, and an antispyware program.

I would only become worried about having my webcam on while being on Yahoo messanger. There is a program people use to see through ppl's cams without having permission.
Check it out it's real to.
Other than that as long as you play it safe there shouldnt be worries of comp hacking.

emails aren't only on your computer, they are on the servers of whoever is your email provider (yahoo, google). If they get a court subpoena, then they are required to reveal your emails. They should be safe from hackers though.
