Squaresoft started this genre as the single, final game they would ever make, until they saw it's success. It was one of the first that pioneered the genre into popularity. It's success in 3D on the Playstation also made it popular.

Because been around the RPG genre a long time I mean think about it they have 12 final fantasys

its hard to name just one thing. i'd have to go with the mind blowing stories they come up with. all though that combined with the unique charactors, leveling up systems, mean *** bosses, CUTSCENES, and the graphics - it just blows ALL other RPGs out of the water!

I think they have a lot of replay value and they are just nicer to look at then the others
