ive had breathing problems now for 6 months (when my baby was 2 months old). I know its through feeling uptight as have had blood tests done etc and im fine. I dont even notice it if im out walking etc its just when im at home.
I know you would say find a way to relax but then i just think about it more and it doesnt go away. Before I knew what it was i used to hyperventilate with over breathing. It feels like my chest is tense like in my throat and I cant breath in deep enough.
I dont have post natel depression and never have but have suffered with anxiety befpre.
I dont ever feel calm, I seem to do everything speedy style and have to slow myself down.
What can I do- its so annoying!!!!

Sounds like you are suffering from an anxiety disorder, which can be related to depression and post-partum depression.
You do not have to keep suffering---I know exactly how you feel. I had an anxiety disorder too, and I remember that tight chest, tight throat, hard to breathe feeling. Even though it feels awful, you will not die, and you are getting enough oxygen.
Please see a doctor and ask for a good anti-depressant that will control the anxiety. The one that gave me my life back was "Celexa"----very good at controlling anxiety. I felt quite a bit better after 2 weeks on the medicine, and SO much better after 4 weeks.
Good luck

Sounds like anxiety or panic disorder to me too. It can get worse or lead to depression if not addressed. I've found a wonderful drug free remedy that works on many but not all folks. According to what I've read, this method may work better in conjunction with some drug therapy. It's called cognitive therapy or cognitive behavior therapy. You can learn more about it in a book called: "The Feeling Good Handbook" by David Burns. Research it and read the reviews to see if it's right for you. It does just as the title suggests... teaches you how to feel good. It's aimed more toward anxiety and depression, but once mastered can be applied to any of life's problems. It cured me of major (suicidal) depression over a year ago when two different doctors said it was unlikely that I would ever get over it... that's powerful. Check it out:

You want to be the best mother you can be. This is one of the ruling factors. You are going to have to slow down just a little. Start teaching yourself to deep breath. Get yourself some of those squishy squeezy balls, sit down, close your eyes, and practice deep breathing while squeezing them. Do this systematically. You are feeling overwhelmed by all of this.

you could be having mild panic attacks,,if you feel there is any trigger you can recognise you can help yourself control them,,maybe a light mild depression medication could help,,there are meds the doctor can prescribe but they will also try to get you to recognise the stresses that bring them on,,not uncommon after a newborn arrives.try keeping a small log of your day and over the next few weeks see if any pattern appears where you can actually see what happens before you start to feel this way,,this helps you stay in control and helps you help yourself.
