Because most latinos in the United States (i'm pretty sure the vast majority) are of Mexican descent, so they probably just assume you're Mexican. I mean if most latinos were Cuban descent they'd probably be calling Mexicans Cubans. Why do latinos call white Americans Anglos? Anglo means British, when white American's descended not just from Britian but also from Germans, French, Scottish, Scandanavian, Italian, Greek, etc. descent.

It may be where you live. In my area of the country I think of Latino women as Puerto Rican, Dominican and Panamanian. I don't think "Mexican."

I hope you don't have a problem with white women. Women are women and for the most part we need to respect each other on our own merits. There is a bit of a sisterhood with women. If women started respecting women more than the men would give us more respect us as well.

I don't know. Many people are just ignorant. In Miami, everyone is Latin, Cuban, Dominican, Columbian, Peruvian, Nicaraguan, etc. practically, so the different ethnicities are distinquished.

I like to harass my gf who is Cuban by saying "Mexican, Cuban, Columbian, you're all the same."

I guess it is kinda like American looking at "Africa" as a single place.
