Tampons. I use Tampax, it's because I don't like the feeling of a pad. It feels as if you're wearing a diaper. Not to mention that it's so hard to control where the blood goes on a pad because you're constantly twisting and turning. With a tampon, it's right up in there so there is no question about whether or not the blood is getting absorbed. Less accidents.

Unless it was made with organic cotton, I avoid tampons at all costs. The chemicals major companies use to treat and bleach the cotton aren't good for the pH balance in the vagina. Also, wearing a tampon can cause all sorts of nasty bacteria to grow, and that can lead to TSS (which is deadly). There is no chance of developing TSS if you wear a pad.
People complain that pads aren't hygenic, but if you change it every few hours, so it's no less hygenic than using a tampon. With a tampon, you don't see any blood escaping the body--that might cause some people to forget that they have one in. A pad is almost like a reminder to keep yourself clean. Pads just take some getting used to!
I like Kotex pads with the velcro-like wings. They stay put, and I never worry about leaks. Whatever you choose, never buy products that are perfumed! The perfume smell warps and makes everything smell worse than if it wasn't perfumed at all.

Tampax Pearl, they are the easiest to use and most comfortable. I like tampons over pads because they are cleaner and there is no odor. They don't slide like pads and cause embarrasing leaks.
Use the least abosrbency that you need to reduce the risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome. I use super on my first day and then regular on the remaining days.

Tampons, they are just not as dirty as a funky dirty pad sitting there between my legs.
I prefer Platex, removing them just seems "smoother" than brands that expand as they absorb (especially brands that expand the long way).
I have also tried Instead and other "cup like" catching devices. They are comfortable and you can wear them longer, but removal can be messy until you get the hand of it.

I use tampax only it gives you more freedom and dosn't make you feel like you've got half a nappy between your legs! It's more hygienic too.

I always use O.B. Tampons. They have no applicator so it's easy to be discreet about your menstrual cycle.
