Your little one is moving down to the birth canal and in that trip, they can set off a lot of different feelings. I bet your problem with constipation is making your tummy hurt. I would tell my O.B. about that and see if there is some food you should be eating more of or if there is a safe laxative you can take..NEVER NEVER self-medicate while pregnant..you must ask your doctor first.
Contractions start like cramps and build up stronger..with the pains not going away. I slept through the beginnings of my contractions since they came on at night. In the morning, my water broke and they came on fast and furious after that.
When in doubt...call your doctor! Did you ever get his home phone? DO!

Could be Braxton Hicks....they are false contractions. You will know when you have the real thing. Not because of intollerable pain but well you just know somethings going on in there! By the congratualtions on the upcoming arrival! A very exciting and nerve racking time in life isn't it! Your pains could be the baby getting ready. Head goes down, baby turns around, pushes on things it didn't push on before. If you are really concerned though you should call or go to the Dr. Oh and to answer your questions....real contractions feel more like intense period cramps. Heavy labour feels like horrible horrible period cramps. If you have experieinced really bad periods in the past labour will be a breeze....if it's not though my one peice of advice....take any drug they offer you - but the gas....I had nitrous with my first and it just made me feel gross instead of taking the edge off it made me think about how horrible and messed up I felt. I have heard the same from others who have had it too. Good luck and Congrats again

My contractions felt like my belly was tightening up like a "charlie horse" in my stomach it would get firm and I would feel tightening in my vagina too. With my first I went all day having contractions and didn't realize I was in labor. My second child my water broke and my contractions were very painful. My third was induced and they gave me an epidural so I felt nothing. You should really go to the hospital if you're unsure. I went 4 times before I had my first son, they all knew me by my first name!! :o) Good Luck!!

To me contractions felt like majorly intense gas/poop pains. Braxton Hicks contractions however felt like a (non painful) tightening of the uterus.

I'm twenty three weeks and this is my third child. The doctor said that you can have braxton hicks contractions in your second trimester, so this may be what you are feeling, if they get strong and come in a pattern then you need to see your doctor, you should go see your doctor anyway just for the peace of mind if for nothing else.

I would first call my doctor and tell them about my concerns. But that's common for a pregnant woman. If they gave you some vitamins to take during your pregnancy, then that's one reason why you're constipated. But the lower pains you feel are probably the baby pressing on your bladder. But you're going to be okay. GOOD LUCK, sweetie!

If you had real contractions I dont think you would feel like sitting at the computer typing. They affect everybody a little differently but I am sure you would know if you had them for real. They are like a really bad cramp that kind of knocks the wind out of you for a bit.

it could be a couple of things- such as ligaments stretching, could be gas and it could be braxton hicks. When they are the *real* contractions...you will know! They sort of radiate through your back and lower abdomen as well as the abdomen gets real tight/hard feeling too. More than likely it's nothing to worry about, but if you think it's more than any of the above...make sure to call your ob/gyn to check in and let him/her know. good luck!!

As your baby grows and moves about you will feel some week contractions and more then likely that is what your feeling (unless like you said you have to poop) but labor is strong and not often mistaken after going threw it one time.
