the main symptom is spots with like little blister heads on them! but prior 2 the spots most people feel unwell and have a fever! there are some adult who get chicken pox and dont even know they have had it as the symptoms are very mild and they have only 1 or 2 spots! u say u have worked some where ,wwhere sum 1 had pox- yes u can cath it! but with the pain it could b shingles and u cant catch shingles u can only get shingles if u have had chicken pox in the past, teh virus just wakes up 1 day and presents itself as shigles! there are no food restrictions but if u think u have chicken pox or shingles stay away from preganat women peaople with low imunity and pepole with hiv and aid and very young babies! if your in pain either see your gp or take some paracetamol

The first symptom is usually a fever for a day or so before the rash appears. The chicken pox rash tends to appear most on the warmest parts of the body - trunk, under arms, and sometimes even on scalp. This rash can be quite itchy. Prior to and during the rash phase you are contagious and should stay home. In fact the earliest part of the illness is when you are most contagious. To treat the rash, soak in a cool tub with something like Aveeno Oatmeal Bath stuff - there are generic versions of this as well. This will calm the skin and help you to sleep. Get plenty of rest and drink lots of liquids. You can take aspirin, tylenol (acetaminophen) or advil (ibuprofen) for fever.

If you are exposed to chicken pox, the infectious period is usually before the lesions appear on someone else. The incubation period is 2-3 weeks when you will see lesions. They are crusty scabby looking. Stay out of the sun which will bring them out more. Not much you can do about them except symptomatic relief.
