UGGH - my mom worked late every Tuesday night, so my dad had to cook - and EVERY Tuesday night it was mac and cheese with hot dogs cut up in it - OMG I think I'm going to be sick just thinking about it!

My mom made a home cooked meal every night. Hamburger Helper was taboo in our house & at that time (30-some-odd-years ago) there were really not much in the way of frozen prepared stuff. She did do her own interesting things with hamburger, though - some of which I'd like to forget! We didn't have a lot of money, so we didn't eat out very much.
My kids get a bit of everything. I prefer to cook a decent meal, whether it's from scratch or starts out frozen, but when I'm out of ideas or have no time - we'll hit McD's or order Chinese.

I grew up on a small farm as well; it was mostly a crop farm...perhaps that is why my parents were such talented gardeners. My mum would cook the best food with the stuff she grew, and she still does. When I visited my parents earlier this summer for my holidays, she cooked for me. It was better than McDonald's.
Unfortunately, the best I can cook is Jell-O snack packs...and that's not real cooking because I microwave them. I am slowly branching out though. I can now cook instant pudding with about a 4 or 5% success rate.
Hopefully, I will marry a good cook. They say opposites attract; in that case, I will probably end up with a professional chef with her own television show about cooking!

My mom almost always cooked, but I grew up on a farm in Georgia. Occasionally, she would make Hamburger Helper or we'd go out to eat, but most nights it was a home-cooked meal.

My mom used to cook. Sometimes it was a complete meal; sometimes it was Hamburger Helper. We only got fast food on special occasions, like when we didn't cry at the doctor's when we had to get a lot of shots.

My mom cooked when we were growing up, but when she went back to work (I was 12), we started eating out all the time.
Now, I would rather have the home cooked meal. Eating out all the time gets old quick.

I grew up on a farm too and both my folks worked long hours in their careers.... so when I got home from school I worked on the farm. Sometimes I would cook myself a bbq or just eat whatever I had.
Weekends were good though, got the folks to cook me baked dinners! yumm

As a kid we mostly had home cooked meals made by mom ,myself and my sister. Home cooked meals are much healthier mom said.
Now that I am an adult I occasionally take mom to a restaurant...McDonald most unhealthy.

We always ate home cooked meals when I was growing up, I never knew what it was like to go out and eat but once in a great while when my Grandpa would take us to a "Barbecue joint", that's what they called it back then!
