Superman is a great character and I do like his comics. However I must confess that I prefer the Batman comics. Batman has so many more layers of complexity than any other character.
That said, Superman is the first superhero. The best ever Superman run is the death of superman. This is when he was killed by the unstoppable alien known only as Doomsday.

Your judgement seems to be a bit impaired - (Have you been at the gold Kryptonite?) Have you considered Spider-man? The Incredible Hulk? Iron-man? The Fantastic Four? Captain America? The X-men? The Avengers?

again with the Superman... I haven't read many of the newer ones... things kinda went downhill when they made him turn into an energy being and zap from place to place instead of fly...
